This temporary dam and scaffold flume scheme was designed to allow access to the side of a weir for installation of a fish and eel pass. The open scaffold box flume, tied into two types of demountable temporary dam. This design accommodated flood management constraints as the weir was part of an essential river level gauging network. The temporary works consent required that the channel be returned to its full capacity in a matter of hours. Several floods were encountered during the works and thanks to advance warnings the channel was running at full capacity during these events, preventing upstream flooding and maintaining live flood map accuracy.
